So I went to petco during lunch break and saw that most of the Balls were having a really really bad shed! I talked to the Herp guy(seemed young and new)about the humidity in the tank being at just 40% So we open up the tank and he grabs the mister and gives it a good once over and refills the Water bowl. This was after we moved some of the snakes over. I stuck my hand in to take a look at this cute little BP that was having a really bad shed and the next thing you know, Bam! Two of them strike me from nowhere! One of them left 3 very small pin prick like marks and barely any blood at all. It did not hurt one bit. I can do more damage to myself with a sponge! The humidity in the cage was around 60% when I left!

I had been asking questions about humidity and I came across an article stating that often ball python owners think that high humidity is necessary for good health, but it dramatically increases the risk of belly rot when its habitat is consistantly damp. In the end, a constant humidity of 50% is fine for bps. I'm guessing the exception is while they are in shed though. 2 sheds ago, i had good humidity levels and got a perfect one piece shed. The last time, humidity was a struggle and I got a patchy shed, but still complete.

I keep my cage at about 50% on cool side and 60% on hot side with an overall of around 55/60%
When he is in shed I keep at about 65/75% from first sign of cloudy eyes to actual shed and so far both his sheds have been quick and all in one piece ( keeping fingers crossed)
