    rats not produceing
    i have a small colony of 1.2 they have been together for about a month now and no prego they seem to be playing alot however nothing :( it is making me very sad any ideas???

    Age could be a factor here. How old are they? They may just not have the hang of it yet.

    How old are they? 1 month really is enough time to be concerned yet. And what is there cage? Temps?

    they are in my bedroom so about 75 maybe a little less, its a 50qt tub with tthe top .5in mesh so good air flow i put them together about a month maybe longer ago however i have had the females for a good 3months

    Those conditions sound alright. Just give them some more time, theyre bound to produce eventually. Patience!

    My colony took about 3 months until my first litter was born give them a little more time. Also if this is the moms first litter it may not go so well. Two of my moms had a hard time with their first litters. One only had 4 babies the other had 11 but non survived. Second go around was much better and now these moms are my best producers. Lucy's last litter was 20 all were healthy and survived to feeder size 60-100G :)So just give them a little more time they will do great for you I am sure :rolleyes:

    *update* its 4am and i got home about an hour ago to find 11 little babies squeeking in the tub as momma sat on them so excited

    Grats soon you will have more rats than you know what to do with :) I would invest in a CO2 chamber and get it all set up I tried the dry ice method and hated it got a CO2 bottle and well easy as pie :)

    ya i am going to work on that soon like tommorrow ish any directions for plans on one the simpler the better
