    half brother and sister
i know that its not a good idea to breed brother with sister. because if you were to do so then they'll get defomaties and illness. so what im asking is if you are possably able to bree half brother and sister together without having to worry about that.

It's different with BPs. People breed siblings and mother/son father/ daughter all the time to prove things out.

People do it all the time, however it doesn't make it any less likely that you'll get deformities. Inbreeding decreases the genetic diversity in the gene pool, which is why it is good to bring new blood into your breeding projects on occasion. Just like breeding a het albino to a het albino can get you an albino, breeding two siblings that may share a harmful mutation will mean that you are more likely to produce a snake with a deformity. It is a crap shoot but most people do it with no ill effect.

Breeding son to mother or father to daughter or brother to sister, is how the ressisives genes were proved out. That's also how some double resesive projects happen, ex- brother and sister double het albino and pied breed could produce a albino pied.

Ball Pythons are different. There is no scientific evidence to support that incestual breeding in BP's causes any birth defects or health issues. Your safe to turn your snakes into little sexual miscreants. LOL

I agree with what everyone has said.

Inbreeding in reptiles does not share the same negative effects as mammalian inbreeding.
Reptiles can safely inbreed. But as breeders, I wouldn't inbreed a single line for more than a few generations.

You can breed sib to sib, mother to son, father to daughter, and any other incest you can think of without worrying too much. A lot of people breed sib to sib or mother/father to baby to prove out morphs. Supposedly it takes several inbreedings before you see any issues. I did a sib to sib breeding and will be doing a mother to son breeding this year to try and prove out a gene I'm working with.
