Just a question because I have no idea, are there any sort of amphibian or reptile that could live comfortably in a cage small enough to be on a desk? Like a computer desk so while you are working you could have your little buddies right there. Do any of them make good pets?

I too have thought of doing just that, like a show piece herp. Assuming a 10 gallon is not too large for your computer desk, I can think of many herps that'd be fine in there. And if they're display animals I can give you a list: (snakes aren't good display herps)

    Green anoles (female)
    gold and house geckos
    leopard gecko
    swifts

I'll compile a better list later

Yeah, I've been trying to come up with a frog or toad that I could have two or three of in a small enclosure in my office that would look good and not make much noise before dark. I saw a page somewhere that showed a frog that only gets 1/2" but I can't remember where and I couldn't find it again when I searched.

I've kept smaller Tokays as well as crested geckos in a planted 20-gallon (tall) within an office environment & they all did exceptionally well.

Another thought, if you're into inverts at all, would be to do something like a tarantula species of which you are fond, or perhaps an emperor scorpion or giant millipede.

    Just my $.02

Will, you're a nut! :D I figured I could get a house gecko or two for my office, but thought that frogs might be a better choice for my co-workers. Anyone know of small frogs preferably not requiring supplemental heat?

    Are you ready???*dialup warning*
There are Viper Geckos, but they need heat. Lots of heat.

This page has a good summary of the Uroplatus geckos.

I think the little Uroplatus would be cool, mainly because they're so special looking.

Yeah, viper geckos are definitely cool, but my co-workers who are fine with ball pythons and 80 lb. dogs are iffy around 2 gram geckos. Go figure.
