So I have noticed that most people dont have a hide for their adult rtb's. when do most of you find that they dont really need it any more?

I have hides for all my boas. They still use them. I will always offer them the security of a hide. There's no reason to remove the hides even if your boa never uses it. He will at least have the option. :gj:

Re: when is it time to remove the hide?
Leave the option to the snake. I leave all my hides in with my boas, even though none of them ever use them. It is better to just leave one in there just in case they do ever decide to use one they will have one.

I pulled mine when my boas started laying on the hides and not going in them. Then when they poop they would try to get away from the floor and crawl on the water bowl and flip it. So I put them back. If nothing else a hide is an escape from a soiled floor.

Like Evenstar stated, my boas use them.

I used to use them, but I took out the hides when my girl started laying on them and crushing them. She rarely used them anyway, she always curled up around or on the hides. I was saving up to order some larger, more sturdy hides (finding already-made hides for a 6-7ft. snake is harder than you'd think) but during that time she didn't seem to care about having a hide or not. She hasn't stopped eating and hasn't changed her behavior so I haven't really been in a rush to buy new ones. Instead we're planning to build "hides" using fake greenery and such. That way, even if she doesn't use them, they at least look pretty. :P
