Building a custom retic enclosure, radiant heat panel size?
My friend and I are planning on building a custom 8' x 4' x 2' enclosure out of melamine. We have done some research and radiant heat panels seem like the best heating option, but what we do not know is what size panel woud be needed. We already have a herpstat thermostat to control it. Any advice would be wonderful. Thank you for your time.

I would probably go with a 120 watt panel from RBI

I would go with a pro-products heat panel. They are very well made and UL tested. Also when you order one you have to call the company and tell them a bunch of different things about the enclosure it's going in. They want to know what material, thickness, dimensions, where is will be in a house and a few other things and them they will make a suggestion on what size you need. Now that may all sound like a pain but I think it's great that a company will try to fit you with the right product instead of just offering a few options and you guessing what's best.

Pro-Products panels are way overpriced though, RBI panels work just as well and cost less.

Yes pro products are a bit more but you will get what beat suites your situation. That is just my opinion on it. I have both types of panels but I like how pro products works with you, and I am in no ways putting RBI down at all, because they are great. You also have a few more choices when it come to pro products. Either way you go you will be good. And you will need a rather large panels for a retic and a large enclosure.

My enclosure is 8'W x 2'D x 3'T and reptile basics suggested the 160wt. Works great!!
