Where do you order your f/t mice from?
Ok so I have a bp and I'm tired of getting mice from petsmart cause I know they're really overpriced...that being said I was wondering where you order your frozen mice/rats? And also should I switch him to rats? He's about 2 feet give or take a few inches and he's 4 inches around if that helps any

I would definitely get your BP on rats. It'll save you money in the long run because you won't have to feed so many in one feeding. An adult ball python will eat 1 medium rat vs. 3+ mice. I order my rodents from Loxahatchee Rodents. I love them and would recommend them to anyone. I would go ahead and buy several sizes to get the most out of your shipping.

I go to Rodent Pro and Layne Labs: RP for large bulk orders and Layne if I need smaller quantities of certain feeders (instead of getting a bag of 100 pinky rats at RP I can choose to get a bag of 5, 10, 25 etc from Layne)

I was ordering from Big Cheese very faithfully, but they've been completely out of frozen rats for a couple months now. (They do still have mice, last I checked.)

So I tried Rodent Pro this month, but I wasn't thrilled with them. There's something wrong with the way they pack their dry ice... there was still plenty left, even though the box took several days to get here, but it was all in one corner. The rats farthest from the dry ice had started thaw, and one of the bags smelled like carrion and rot when I opened it. I had to throw out some of the rats. Ugh.

I feel like they could fix this problem with better packing... in the mean time, I'm trying Mice Direct next...

Loxahatchee gets good reviews, but their shipping is INSANE. Especially if you're doing small orders.

I've only made one order so far and it was with Layne labs and they came in perfect.

Loxahatchee. They vacuum seal the rodents so you can buy up to a year's supply and not worry about freezer burn.

Loxahatchee here too. I ordered from them once and immediately got hooked. With current prices going through the roof at big chain places after their disease issue at Rodent Pro, I started using them, and they are noticeablly better rodents than RP has ever sent me. They are sealed better, come out fresher, and shipping is more reasonable. I will continue to use them until RP prices become advantagous again.

Also yes, get them switched to rats. I have ONE and only ONE mouse eater BP, and its also my only live eater. Working hard on the switch but she's a picky little punk.

Try to fin a company closest to you to save on shipping. Or try to find a breeder near you, they'll sell you rats if you ask. The breeder I got my snake from let me buy rats (frozen for me) for a very very fair price.
