Hatchlings not wanting to eat
Has anyone had entire clutches of hatchlings that are just butts about eating? I had several clutches over the summer and they all picked up eating immediately with no issues. Now I have 2 clutches hatched a week apart where there are several that are reluctant to eat. They do eat but just seem very uninterested and sporadic about doing so. What can make hatchlings act like this. They are all healthy, gaining wieght, and I run a pretty tight ship and husbandry is spot on, so I know health and husbandry is not the issue. My guess is that about a week after they hatched the temps were I live went from 70's-80's down to 30's-50's and we had about 2 weeks of on and off rain. Has anyone else noticed tempt changes/weather and hatchlings feeding habits? I know the weather effects my breeders so I'm assuming the same may go for hatchlings. I dont know, just wanted to see if this is common or not. Thanks
Re: Hatchlings not wanting to eat
I had all five of mine stop eating when it got wet and humid last year. They were one-year-olds at the time. I think they feel pressure changes or something. Interesting subject, hope others answer.

If it's an entire clutch, it might be a difference in incubation temps that you didn't notice? Or just parentage.
I guess it wasnt the entire clutch just all the yellow bellies in one clutch. I had 8 eggs, 2 were ivories, 5 were yellow belly, and 1 normal. The 2 ivories and the normal will eat everything everytime offered, the yellow bellies it seems are vegitarians;) in the other clutch all the fires are picky but all the lessers and lesser fire combo eat just fine. Its weird. Im not too concerned about it, I will get them eating steady but just struck me as odd that I would have so many uninterested feeders all at the same time when I havent had any problems all year.

Basically saying it ain't right if something doesn't go wrong
Re: Hatchlings not wanting to eat
Temps are 91 roughly on the hotspot and around 83-85 on the cool side. However the temps of the room have droped about 10 degrees to around 73 degrees. Im using an oil heater to heat the room but just had new windows put in and havnt got them insulated or trimmed out yet so the heater is having a hard time keeping ambient temps stable in the room.

I would double check your humidity levels. I set a humidifier to come on with my oil filled heater. Might not be the case but worth trying:)
