Quick Question Feeding Night: 2 Feeders?
I thought the hoppers I picked up looked small and they are. They are between 3-4 grams. The snakes I'm feeding are 99 grams and 65 grams. The next sized feeders are rat fuzzies/pups and they are around 14 grams.

Is it safe to feed two feeders to snakes that size or what's my other option?

I found a thread back from 2011 that mentioned giving two hoppers so I went ahead and gave them the other hopper. They were both out still searching and both took the second hopper right away and when I just looked in on them everyone is in their warm hides now.

They probably could eat 5 or 6 that size, I would have gotten the 14 gram ones :gj:

I just picked up some hoppers and noticed the same thing, they were really small...I fed mine 2 hoppers no problem.

It's usually 10-15% of the body weight. So a 100g snake should be eating 10-15g meals. I'm not sure how much it matters if that is one 15g item or even three 5g items. I've asked this question before and the results were mixed.

We over bought small prey when we bought Avalon, our 1st and only snake.. She is up to eating 4 of those little mice a feeding. We like watching her strike and curl it up, so it is actually better for us. It doesn't seem to hurt her at all, she'll swallow one and start roaming looking for more..

We hope to get the right size prey at the next show that happens close to us.. Gonna try rats too, probably a rat pup and some wean-lings.. Just not sure of how many of each to get? Also all she has ever eaten is Mice so I'm curious as to will she even take a rat? I'd hate for us to buy a bunch and then have her refuse them? I guess I could get one from the pet store and try it first, huh?

Anyways , Good Luck too you, Bill in Indiana
