    What am I doing wrong?
Happy Friday to all! I have a question regarding locks. I started paring a week ago. First paired my normal girl to my mojave , I have no clue if they even paired as I was at work for most of the time. By the end of the three days the normal had her body over the tail. After a 3 day break I put my het red axanthic male in with the same normal female. They seem to be coiled up tightly together and there are a bunch of sperm plugs around the tub. Are locks always visible or could they be within the coil? I never see the locks that many of you post here..

You wont always see a lock, sometimes its late at night and done by morning, other times they are obstructed by coils and laying on top of eachother. Sometimes they may not be ready or interested. As to sperm plugs around the tub I dont know. If you have only put in 2 males there should only be the possibility of 2. They are actually hemipenal cast (almost like a shed) not actual plugs. Goodluck.

Also, it's still early in the season. Most of my males are still ignoring their girlfriends.

The fact that you're finding sperm plugs lying around is encouraging. Keep it up, in a couple months you'll start actually catching locks in progress.

I usually find them sprawled out when locked up.

It seems like I never see them coiled up and locked, but maybe it happens :confusd:

The only thing you're doing wrong is being impatient. ;) Keep pairing them and they'll eventually do their thing. I check mine once a day and almost always will catch the lock because they can last as long as 24 hours or more.
