Does it mean anything?

Consider this (1600g Het albino F)
Hot spot-92, cool-80 Humid 65%

8/24-shed
9/30-shed
2 m. rats since 9/30
10/20-22 Multiple locks with male
10/23-M. Rat
10/25-Blue

This would be her fastest shed cycle ever.

It's also the first time, as far as I can tell, she tried submerging in water bowl.

Does the quicker shed cycle mean anything?

Also, should I wait to re-introduce the male until after the female shed?

I'm not gonna say that it's not possible already, however that would be pretty darn quick. Really to know for sure you need to try and palpate her to see if you can feel the follicles. Just keeping pairing them though, until you for sure witness the ovulation.

Once a month shedding is possible with heavy feeding.
It indicates nothing really, they do the whole follicle growth thing in-between normal shed cycles, it doesn't typically change during breeding season from my experience.

Some people pair during the females shed, personally I give my males that break to eat well before going back into action.

Male had good sized meal 1 day after I separated them, and I have read often here; "3 days on, 3 days off'

3 days on 3 off is only a rough guideline.

Things like sheds and eating can throw that off.
Females sitting on males can throw that off.
Putting them together and having them sit in separate corners for 2 days can throw that off, etc...

So, what is the right approach? I monitor them, to see if they are locking or not. So far, last season, and this, every pairing resulted in a lock. I also read to wait one day after meal before pairing again. Both ate good meal day after separation, so now, do I wait for female to shed, before I pair them again?

I've always gone by 3 days together, 3 days apart to feed and rest, and back together again. Its up to you really.

If you feel they are good. Go for it.
But consider they're not machines. Hahahaha

It wont happen than quickly in my experience. you only need to introduce your male every 2-3 weeks for 3-4 days. No point in wearing him out this early in breeding. In my experience the longer the wait the more interested they are and the more I introduce i notice apathy/disinterest.
