    Its expensive keeping people locked up in prison especially since prison populations are over crowded with people who committed non violent crimes (like drug dealing or possession or committing fraud, etc.). Thats why they release people like that. They might save some money if they would get things moving on death row and free up some space. But too many people are offended by the idea of lethal injection... Such a touchy subject... As far as I am concerned if you murder or rape people you need to go. The faster the better.

    There is no death penalty in Canada as far as I know.
