How much bigger do females get than males on average?
And do you think it's worth an extra $10 for a normal female if you're just going to keep it as a pet and not breed it?

Yes..... Because if down the road you do decide to breed them... Even for run.... You'd have an adult female by then...

That is worth $10 to me

Males and females can be the same size... The bigger the prey item the faster your snake will grow....

Definetly get a female first bc even if you have no plans to breed now you may change your mind in the future and you'll already have a nice big adult female.

I couldn't have answered any better than the other two. When I rescued my normal female, I had no intention of breeding ball pythons, only cornsnakes. But now that I've owned her, I've decided that I want to breed ball pythons more than cornsnakes. So yes, I'd pay the extra $10.

I'd go for the female. Always good to have big normal girls.

And as for size, it differs.

3 of my bps are 2 1/2 years old. One girl is 2300+g, one girl is 1300g and my male is 1000+g.

I would also go for a female. I got my first ball (pastel) a few months ago. I found a male that I really liked so I got him. He was going to be just a pet. Well now I'm addicted. I still only have the one, but I have been looking at getting some more. After much research on here I wish I would have gotten a female to begin. I guess I will be adding one in the near future :)
