Corn shows King Cobra who is boss. *GRAPHIC*

I got this from my facebook feed last night, at first I thought that it was a Cal King.

As it turns out the person who took the photo commented and that is in fact a young Indian King Cobra that the Corn is munching on. Amazingly they both survived as the corn regurged the king when the lid was taken off the tub/tank. The Corn is now going to be kept as a pet as it has clearly earned its right to live.

Do you normally feed corn snakes to that cobra? I don't understand why those 2 snakes were in the same place at the same time.

I saw that too but didn't see the comments about them both surviving. It's pretty amazing that they both made it out alive.

I agree, why were they together?

King cobras are snake eaters (some won't eat rodents at all, I'm assuming that's very true for babies) so I assume that corn was in there as a live feeder. I have no idea how the predator ended up being eaten by the prey.

King cobras are natural snake eaters, just like king snakes. I would assume that the owner is using the corn snake to get the king cobra hatchling started, just as someone might use frogs to get a hognose started.

Yes the Corn was prey for the King, my only guess is that for some reason the King was not hungry and did not strike fast enough. As to why the Corn tried to eat the king.......no clue, they aren't known for being snake eaters.

Juvenile corns actually are known to eat snakes . There are quite a few stories of hatchling corns kept together after their first shed that ended up feeding on each other.

It's very common for keepers of some cobra speices to feed everything thing from F/T gecko's to live corn snakes
