Can someone please give me a simple order of events in the change of the female ball python during her preparation for laying? I know the changes (bowl hugging, glow, shed, bumpy, bloated, tail suck, etc) but can not remember the order of the events nor the timing. I have a female that looked bloated, then bumpy and in shed and has been visiting with a male. I am trying to figure out which stage she could be in. Thanks in advance.

That site is great. Next question: can she be in shed while ovulating?

    Indeed she can.
Doesn't always happen but I had my girl in the last couple days of ovy last season deep in shed

Ditto on the website. Has lots of good info. Also, we have had girls shed late during the cycle

Okay we are going in the right direction. Does this look promising to you? (She was wrapped around the bowl halfway inverted before I removed the bowl and took the pictures. The last photo is 24-48 hours prior.

Thanks. She shed today and was laying coiled and partially inverted. I really did not expect this since she has been with a male (many times) but I never witnessed a lock. If she goes, he will be deemed Mr sneaky pants!

I have never seen nor have I ever heard of a female ovulating while in shed, that's not how they operate from my experience.
Preov shed, then glow, then ovulate then prelay shed.

Well just in case I put the male with her again today. He lined up with her right away but then the moved around and no lock as far as I know. I would be a great first clutch, common black magics!
