Rubbermaid containers

My neighbor is thinking about putting his snake in a rubbermaid container and wants to know which is better glass aquarium or rubbermaid?? what do you guys think?

well, before david jumps in this one (;))... let me say, after housing many snakes in both, rubbermaids are the way to go. cheaper, easier to clean, easier to keep humidity in. simple as that.

as far as asthetics or display the aquarium is the way to go... as far as function, cost, and ease of use I'd go rubbermaid. Rubbermaids keep heat and humidity WAY WAY WAY WAY better than aquariums and are pretty inexpensive... in most cases a good human heat pad, a rubermaid, two hides, a branch of some sort or basking rock, and a water dish.... you're set! for substrate just throw down some newspaper (cheap and easy to change just make sure the ink is dry)

Personally, I prefer rubbermaids. They are cheaper, easier to use, hold humidity better and when you solder/drill airholes in the side you get cross-ventilation.

You've said too much already, freak. No you're gonna have to go for a walk on the lake with your new cement shoes.

Rubbermaid for all the reasons already stated PLUS, since snakes generaly do not like huge cavernous enclosures that make them feel unsafe, you can give your snake a cage just right for him, and when he outgrows it you dont mind getting a larger one for 10-15 bucks!

Both my rubbermaid enclosures keep a humidity level of 60-67% with simply a water dish inside. 8)

keep in mind, make sure youre getting the right rubbermaid. imitations are usually crappy.

I'll add my voice to the mix and say I agree -- aquaria are great for display, but Rubbermaids are great for simplifying husbandry.
