My BF's Pythons are dropping like flies! HELP!!

I'm taking care of my BF's snakes (about 30 or so...) while he's out of town. In the past TWO weeks FIVE pythons have died!! They all seemed fine and then the next day they were dead. They all died several days apart, not all at the same time. WHY ARE THEY DYING?! What would cause a seemingly healthy snake to just die?? Any, ANY help and advice would be so very helpful! Please reply if anyone knows what could be causing this and HOW i can keep anymore from dying.

How are the snakes caged?

How are the cages heated?

How are temperatures being measured?

What are the cage temperatures?

What types of snakes are they (all ball pythons?)

When was the last time they were fed?/What were they fed?

Any other information/pictures that you can give us will help.

Have you taken any of the five for necropsy?

Have you brought any new snakes in? Did you quarantine new animals?

Extremes in temperatures could definitely cause problems. A malfunction in their heating/cooling system causing extremely warm/hot or cold temperatures is a possible cause. Have you had any power outages lately...?

Some kind of disease could be spreading. Especially if a new animal was introduced without proper quarantine conditions.

As stated above. Providing as much information as possible will help with any kind of guesses at what the problem could be.

All the ones that died are pythons. They were a pastel, a het albino, het genetic strip, spider and the other one i think was a normal. They were kept in plastic totes lined with newspaper. They had water and were all feeding regularly. Some ate live rats, some frozen thawed. One did regurgitate its rat. The pythons are kept in a small room where the heat is about 80 to 85, using a space heater. Each snake has its own tote. The snakes are my boyfriend's hobby but i watch him do a lot of things with them. I don't know as much about them as he does.

Also, no new snakes were added. Most of the snakes were on heat wire that was on a snake rack. One that died was on heat wire (not sure what its called exactly) and the others weren't but i added the space heater with a built-in thermostat and took the others off the heat wire.

We need more information and I would strongly suggest consulting a vet.

Have you talked with your BF about what might be going on? Since this is his collection he might be able to tell you what could be going wrong with the setup because he knows more about it.

Without your BF there I'd say fridge the dead snakes and get a necropsy set up with a vet ASAP. When you can identify how they died you might be able to figure out how to help the others (setup being normal). Is there a temp gun or thermometer with a probe around that you can use?
