    Illegal?
Is there a thread that tells what states they are illegal in? Its to my understanding that rats are more nutritious than mice and Im having issues getting some of my balls to switch to rats. I would be interested in purchasing some if they are allowed in my state.

There is no definate on the mice vs rat feeding.
I have 1000+g snakes that are mousers only and I dont notice any difference in size growth other than mutiple mice.

ASFs are harder to find and if you are planning on breeding them, THEY EAT/CHEW EVERYTHING!!!!!

Im having a hard time finding female mice. I had to feed one of the few I had last night because she was being too aggressive to the others....and she bit my daughter. Maybe I can find some soon.

I know someone who keeps the asf in tubs with no issues. I myself keep a 1.4 group in a 20L tank(sliding locking lid).

No idea on the legality in Missouri, sorry.

Contrary to popular belief, rats and mice have almost identical nutritional content. The only difference is that rats have a slightly higher fat content. But it's only a few percentages higher. Other than that, rats and mice are relatively the same. And you have to remember this is comparing 2 animals of the same size. A 15 gram mouse = a 15 gram rat.

The only benefits of feeding rats is just the convenience of size. Feeding 1 rat is easier than feeding multiple mice. And some snakes don't like taking more than 1 or 2 prey at a time.

For the legal status of asfs in you state, try looking at your state's Fish and Wildlife service restricted animal list.

Rats, have more protein, fat, and energy with less ash. Mice have higher calcium, magnesium, and iron. The other minerals are about the same. Rats have a bit better nutritional value.
