Thats the amount of temperature fluctuation you want. Its the difference of degrees acceptable in your rack. If you dont set it your thermostat will keep turning off and on in order to maintain the temperature you set it at. I have 2 ve 100s I love them.

Rich from Reptile Basics designed the Vivarium thermostats and can explain any feature in great detail. You can reach him at sales@reptilebasics.com

Rich is very helpful and has a quick turnaround time for getting back to you.

Yep, lets you adjust the temp. And I agree with above, just call Rich at RBI and he will gladly walk you through any questions you might have.

The ve100 is an on/off thermostat so it's asking you to set how many degrees you want it to change before it turns on/off. So if you set it at 92 with a 1 degree variance it will turn off at 93 and back on at 91. Make sense?

This. Personally for the extra 15 dollars I would have bought a proportional herpstat intro.

X2 this is the temp variance setting I have used the VE series t-stats for a while and have had no issues :)

Thanks for the input guys, that makes total sense.

I will be buying a netted thermostats with my next rack purchase. This was just what was quick and everywhere I read it says that it was a really reliable stat.

Seems to be working great so far.

Look at the ecozone it is fully networked. It has some very advanced functions the herpstats offer more safety features but networking them is hard....
