    Safer incubator
So I'm getting new clutches and it time to build a big ole incubator, not sure how I'm gonna do it either walk in or old fridge. Anyway, wht do u guys do to make it safe? I have a back up genirators and a herpstat, but should I do a backup stat, an alarm that calls me, a surge protector? I don't really know but I am getting more high dollar clutches and the baby's NEED to be safe! Thanks for input

If you have the money and room to build a walk in then do that. Thatd be awesome and a dream for me someday to have a walk in incubator full of clutches!

A back up tstat and surge protector is a must for me. The safer the incubator, safer the eggs will be.

Herpstats shouldn't be used with generators, they don't produce power that is clean enough.

I would use a Herpstat with a Ranco as a backup. In the case of power failure use the generator with the Ranco.

A good surge protector is an exelent idea just avoid battery backups (they have the same issue as generators do with not producing clean power due the DC/AC inversion).

Okay so I'm gonna do a herpstat wit ranco backup and that will run the generator. I decided on a walk in IF I can do it myself and save money. I'll have a surge protector and an alarm that calls me if everything fails. If you have any other suggestions please share

How do you get an alarm that calls you? I would love to know for future reference when I have those high dollar clutches. Hell, I would love to know for my low dollar clutches!!

Our reef aquarium has a "reef keeper" computer on it. It is a small head unit with a number of optional probes and modules you can add for the purposes of monitoring and controlling other devices. It also acts as a fancy timer for the lighting. It has an option for a "net" module that will alert you via smartphone if something goes out of specs. It also has an option that makes it so you are able to watch all parameters from the Internet. I believe you can even add a camera to watch it from the Internet. The same company (digital aquatics) also makes a very similar unit called a "herp keeper" that will do all of the same things, but more herp related.
