    Feeding Schedules..?
Do you have to follow a feeding schedule ? We've been feeding our BP every Sunday.. This last week we went on Sat. because of a scheduling conflict. Last night Avalon was out late and was looking for food.. At least I think she was.. Seems when she gets hungry she'll sorta raise her head up about 4 or 5 inches and sorta sniff the air.. That looks hungry to me because this is exactly what she did right before the 1st time she ate for us.
Anyways, do you always stick to your scheduled feeding day or just feed whenever? I know a lot of you have more than just one snake, so I'm sure you probably stick with a schedule, but was wondering what it would hurt to just feed whenever?

I try to stick to my schedule, but unlike my snakes, I have a life - so sometimes they get fed a day or 2 late.

I feed on my schedule, and that varies greatly from week to week.

For me, feeding day is Tuesday. However, my pastel eats every other week since he is bigger and seems to refuse more if I try every week. Even so, I still feed on Tuesday. That seems to be the best day for both mine and my wife's schedules since MOST (not all) holiday weekends around the military are Friday through Monday. Plus I think it helps your snakes get into a routine and feel more comfy IMHO.

I feed on schedules for mine: since I have many snakes and other non snake things to juggle I space out my feedings. I feed some on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and some are on a 5 day, 10 day, and two week schedule.

I stick to a pretty regular schedule for the most part. I occasionally have to feed a day early or late, but as a general rule I try to keep them on a regular schedule. Due to the number of animals we keep, we feed one day, clean a couple of days, and just to spot checks the others.

My guys eat on Sunday. Works well for us. Time for feeding, plus then time for them to digest on Monday and Tuesday which are our busiest days of the week. We then have the week and weekend open for holding the them. My little enchi dude I have been feeding every 5 days though.

Cool, I was just wondering if it really makes a difference as to having a schedule? I mean if she looks hungry why not feed her? Will it hurt her?

No it won't hurt at all. I have a very loose timetable I feed light (8-12% BM) every 7 days or so. Most of the snakes (11) I own feed every 7 days with no issues. They let you know if they are interested if I have pre scented the room and there is no head poking out or visible activity I skip that snake it is clearly not interested so trying just causes stress. The converse is true if one seems to be hunting before feeding day I often will thaw out a rat for that one and offer the mid week snack. Schedules are for the keepers not the snakes they will feed when the conditions, interest and opportunity align. Many adults go off food so an extra meal here and there helps balance it out some.
