    And if "Boa Constrictor Constrictor" sounds silly and redundent, keep in mind that it is the scientific name. "Boa" is the genus, "Constrictor" is the species, and the second "Constrictor" is the sub-species. It's not uncommon if a species has multiple sub-species, that one of them would share the original species name, such as Pituophis Catenifer catenifer.

    Boa Constrictor Imperator (BCI) is another subspecies of the Boa Constrictor. (One of the few snakes who's scientific name is also its common name.)
