New ball, juvenile

Ok so last Monday i bought a juvenile ball python from a local pet shop and i'm still toying with temp and humidity. That friday i tried feeding it a f/t pinky and he refused(i figured as much). This upcoming friday i'll be buying some more things to make the temp and humidity perfect for him. My question is what size mouse should i feed him? I don't know the weight because i have no scale but the best description i can give is about 3/4" in the thickest part and about a foot and some odd inches long(all estimated because im at work). I don't really want to feed him f/t but the pet shop i normally go to was out of feeder mice. I was just curious to know what size mouse i should feed him. I want him to get some good meals in before they go on his "hunger strike" that i hear about when it gets in the winter months

I normally feed a prey animal that is at its thickest, the same width as the widest part of the snake. For the animals first meal with me however I normally feed a little smaller.

Why wouldn't u want to feed f/t? If your animal will take a f/t rat then thats preferable to a live feed as it poses virtually no risk to your royal! Feeding live always has a risk attached!

And not all royals go off food for the winter! Many of mine will feed flat out all year round! So give a super heated rat fluff a go and see how you get on.

Well my guess is it doesnt want to eat f/t. I may switch but i think its beem fed live so im going to try this week.

Pinkies are way too small, your BP might not have even perceived it as food. Most BP's can eat hopper mice right out of the egg.

I feed fluff rats cause they put weight on so much quicker than a mouse

Just an update it ate its first live mouse i fed him successfully after many missed strikes. :)
