    New Rack Build
While I have built a rack in the past, and even as recently as 6 months ago looked at some DIY plans online, I had decided to buy an AP rack once I got home from Afghanistan. I recently cahnged my mind and have drawn up plans for a custom build for once I get home. All in all the build, tubs, hides and thermostat will cost $560. The tubs that I plan to use are 36"X16"X6" and the rack will have 9 tubs - 8 for snakes and one just for the thermostat sensor. A comparable rack from AP would run $520 for an 8 tub rack and $650 for a 10 tub rack (split the difference and 9 tubs is $585). My rack, minus the tubs, hides and thermostat will run me $220 for a savings of around $365! I will take pictures of the plans and post them once I get to a computer where the Army hasn't blocked photobucket from being used. They are similar to something that I've seen online but I am changing things up a bit. Has anyone else built their own rack? Please post pictures if you do, but no promises that I won't steal any of your ideas!

One tub for just the thermostat sensor...?

Yes Mike, as I want to ensure that the sensor gets as realistic of a reading as is possible. I will have the sensor over the flex watt in the back of the tub but I will also use it for storage (forceps, scale, IR thermometer, backup thermostat, etc. It keeps my extra things hidden and the extra tub and flewatt will cost $20 at most with the extra lumber costing nothing (will have enough extra after what I'll need for 8 tubs).

And this post is post #666 for me! LOL If I was a superstitious person I'd make another post elsewhere to bump it to 667 but I'm not one to take a fancy to fairy tales...
