    Gender Ratios of Hatchlings
    Hello all,

I did a bit of searching but couldn't find an answer to my question. What are you guys typical hatchling gender ratios? Is it a 50/50 split male/female? Is it random, morph specific, or something else?

    Thanks,

    -Chris

    Random :gj:

You can have all males, all females, even split in one clutch.

x2 on the random, this question is like asking, where do I find trees? In random places! <- I'm not trying to attack you by the way, just having fun. :)

Well overall if you lookd at the number of every bp hatched ever then its probably be close to 50/50 i would imagine. Like most species theres probably slightly more males. :gj:

My last two clutches produced only four females out of 14 eggs. Wish it was 50/50. It would make things much easier. If there is one thing I've learned is that ball pythons do not read the caresheets and books written about them. They tend to do their own thing just to frustrate you.

From a purely biological standpoint I would expect the female ratio to be higher as a single male can breed multiple females, thus ensuring the survival of the species. I would only expect it to be slighly higher though, not a 3 to 1 but maybe more like a 6 to 4. That being said, my daughter just hatched a clutch that is 4.2 so, so much for expectations.

It's pretty random, but in large numbers I would say closer to 50/50 than one way or another

Well I posted previously in this thread that my daughter had a clutch that went 4.2. Well today at Repticon we had them looked at again just to be sure. It now is officially a 6.0 clutch (Arrrgh!) so that confirms Deborah's post about could be all male, or all female, or anything in between. Thanks Robin, Ed, and Deborah.

It's usually 50/50, but people complain a lot more about male heavy clutches. :P

    Last year I hatched 3.2.

    This year I hatched 2.2, 3.3, 4.1, and 2.3.
