    stats and meters
Ok so currently on my cage im using one uth with no tstat(lots of substate laying on it to not burn my new buddy before i get a tstat) a light, and a heat lamp with a screen lid. With my next check im gonna get everything else i need for it and may change my uth to a more reliable one instead of the cheap one i have now. My question is i saw something about flexwatt for under heating. What is it exactly and how easy is it to install? Also do i need to buy something else for it besides a tstat? As for the tstat i was gonna buy that expensive brand(forget the name) and a accurite thermometer. Do i need multiple thermometer s or just one since i got a accurite?

Also should i replace the light with another type of bulb? If so what?

Instead of a light just get a CHE (ceramic heat emitter), that way you get heat without light as u don't need light just decent ambient air temp control. Light just say night and day nothing more.

Also, if you don't have it yet I suggest you get a digital thermometer/hydrometer

If your UTH is unregulated, turn it off until you get the herpstat. Your snake can still burrow under the substrate and
    reach the unregulated UTH.

Flexwat can be ordered from reptile basics.com. It needs to be regulated like a UTH, but all you need is the thermostat.

Id also get an infrared heat gun instead of an Accurite, but it should be fine

Ill look for a therm gun, any suggestions? And whats the price? Also someone recommended ultratherm over flexwatt. I dunno which would be better.

A ceramic heat element is a ceramic flat headed unit with a light bulb type end. Yes you can buy them at any pet store but read the box you need to use them with a wire fixture not the standard heat bulb kind. If you use the wrong fixture the heat will back up and cook the unit, and they are not cheap.

One Accu-rite is fine but i second the temp gun. I got one from Amazon for 12 bucks. It takes a regular 9 volt battery and works very well. It probably wouldn't hold up to field herping or in a mechanic shop but works great for me.
