f/t keep popping

I just made the switch to f/t tonight for my girl. shes about 170g. i dont know if this is kinda normal or not but i thawed the mice in water and dried them off a bit then warmed them up with a heat lamp. And both of them, when constricted, popped near in the belly region and intestines were hanging out. Is there a way to prevent this?

Usually it's due to either

The prey item being thawed too fast which is why I would suggest letting the prey thaw at room temp and then getting it warmed up with a hair drier.

The prey item having been thawed and refrozen previously.

I haven't had a pop, but I let mine thaw overnight in the fridge and then dip them in warm water for about... 15 seconds and then immediately give them to Sal.

You still give them to your BP wet?

It may be just the batch of f/t that you acquired.

I always thaw my f/t, both mice and rats, by placing them in water, as hot as it will run from the faucet. I leave the f/t in the hot water for about an hour, then I replace the water with fresh hot water for about 10 minutes to get them nice and warm. Next I feed them to my snakes. I don't bother drying them, the snakes take them wet.

Feed live. Problem solved, lol! I'm kidding, just kidding! When I fed f/t, I'd leave the rat/mice/other in a plastic Ziploc bag in the fridge overnight. They thaw out gradually in the cooler temps rather than a sudden temp change via dunking them in scalding water. At feeding time, I'd leave them in the bag and put it into a cup of lukewarm water to thaw and gradually heat the water until they were completely thawed and were warmed completely through. You don't want to "cook" the prey item, as that isn't good for your snake but a cold "mouse-cicle" isn't good either. You can warm the head with a hair dryer (from experience, DO NOT let your significant other catch you using theirs if you elect to use this method!) or you can use the heat lamp to warm the head on the prey item to give the snake a heat signature to lock onto. Sometimes they just explode on you and that's that but if you thaw them gradually and don't dunk them into hot water straight out of the freezer, you might have better luck. Yeah I give them to my guy slightly damp. The water is warm and he just goes for the mouse without question.

When I do F/T, I heat mine up slowly in lukewarm water for 15 minutes, then cover them in the hottest tap water I have. Once heated, I slightly wipe them off(still damp) and feed them. Never had any issues.

I had the same issue when I would thaw them quickly in hot water. Now I let them thaw in the fridge over night and warm up in water this has given me far fewer pops but I still get them once in a while.

When I feed f/t they are always sopping wet.
