    Het Clown
    Hey all,

A local ad is selling a male/female pair of 2012 hatchling 100% het clowns for $300. Is there any reason not to get them? Ive done lots of research on the recessive genes and this would be a great project to plan for the future while building up the rest of my collection. I just want to make sure that there is nothing I'm missing on this. The seller says that they were produced by a reduced visual male to a 100% het clown which from what i could tell from the genetic wizard would produce 100% het clowns.

    Thanks all!
    Ryan

Be careful buying hets from random people. Look them up on the fauna BOI and try to gather information about them before jumping the gun. Ask to see pics of the parents. Make sure one of them is in fact clown lol.

I personally would not buy unless the breeder produced a picture of the sire and dam locked.

    X2

I learned the hard way and got scammed out of $300 for a pair of "hets". Lesson learned and I will never buy hets from someone I don't trust and has no reputation within the community.

I think that's good advice for anyone wanting to get into buying/selling snakes.

Before you mentioned it, I wouldn't have thought about taking snake porno pics.

Thanks for all the advice so far and that was along the lines of what I was thinking! Almost too good to be true so need to do my homework! I think I might hold off on hets either way until I can get some from my favorite breeders.

That's exactly what I did with my Pin X Pastel pairing this past season. Every lock, her on the eggs, and the babies coming out of the eggs were photographed and dated. I will do the same thing this year as well, I have two het albino girls and a het pied that should go. This season will be my first season trying to sell any babies and sure as hell refuse to be the guy with a bad name.

$300 for a pair of het clowns is about right from what I've seen recently. Most of the time you wont get a break if you only want the female (males thrown in for free).
