    Is it Het Pied?
So I may be making a trade an acquiring at 2012 Het pied female.
    Putting the trade aside.
The markings are very hard to tell on this one.
I am getting this from someone who is not the breeder.
I was told the mom was visual pied and the dad was het pied. There were visual pieds in the clutch.
    Here is the tail:

Markers are not 100%, the only way to be sure is to know the pairing or prove it out yourself.

If the dam was a visual pied all of her non-pied babies are 100% het for pied.

So does that mean that if the dam was visual pied this baby would have %100 markings? Or does that mean this baby could be 100%?

If the dam was indeed a homozygous pied then all of her babies would carry the pied gene, with or without "markings".

That being said, I would not be buying a het of ANY morph unless it was from a reputable breeder, had papers, or I could track back it's lineage.

Is it possible that you could get a hold of the breeder to see if the seller bought the animal off of them and it is indeed het pied?

If one of the parents was a visual pied and the other het that would make all the babies 100% at pied. Markers are not a 100% sure way of telling. So if the mother and the father is what the seller says then all the babies that are not visual pieda are 100% pied even if they don't have markers.

Since you are curious about markers to answer you first question those are not Pied Markers, however:

    Marker are not 100% accurate

Some het pieds have them some do not

Markers can be strong or not

This is an example of a strong markers

    My advice

1# Never buy an het based on markers, buy an animal based on the fact that the animal is produced by a REPUTABLE breeder that guarantees the animal

2# When buying a second hand het ALWAYS make sure that you can actually verify that the animal is what he is sold as, ask to see the original paperwork and contact the original breeder. (Paperwork that come with a photography can help you and the original breeder confirming that the animal in question is indeed what he is sold as)

3#While many hets do not come with paperwork it's not a problem when

A# You buy it from the person who produced it and this breeder is REPUTABLE

B# The breeder who is selling a second het het is reputable and will stand behind the animal and guarantee it himself just like he would if HE produced it.

Again the key is REPUTABLE BREEDER

If it's non of the above just walk away.

    Re: Is it Het Pied?
Yea I asked for papers and they said they could get them. This person got it from a guy who got it from a breeder so thats why its hard. I talked to the guy he got it from and he said its het pied and that he saw the dam and sire but i dont know him so I said I needed to get papers from the breeder. They are waiting to hear from the breeder i guess.

Why not just ask for the breeders information and try to get in contact with him yourself? I would imagine that it would streamline the process a bit and you could probably arrange to have the snake brought in so that the breeder can examine to see if it matches his records and was in fact one of those he produced, and verify that it is in fact het pied.
