BRB housing in an Exoterra 18 x 18 x 36
Hey Folks
I'm new on this site and hoping to get some help.
I just bought 2 BRB babies born in August (1 male & 1 female) and they are housed together in an Exoterra 12 x 12 x 18 tank. It is controlled by a Hygrotherm unit with a UTH & Reptifogger.
Temp & Humidity are within ideal ranges and both have eaten well on live pinkies and moving them to FT pinkies.
The question(s) that I have is how well do they house together, although I have read this is a no go, the breeder said they would be fine as long as they are fed separately.
The other question is, I have an Exoterra 18 x 18 x 36 that I wanted to move them to as they grow. If keeping them separate is best, can I split the lg. Exoterra down the middle making a more
vertical housing for each BRB. The footprint on each side will be 18 x 18 with 36" of vertical room for climbing and additional cooler hide space. i would use another Hygrotherm & Reptifogger and a larger UTH
placed at the mid-point under the floor of the two sides of the tank. Plexiglass panels will be used to cover the top to contain moisture.
I hope this makes sense!
Thanks,
Ian

Housing any snake with another can be done, it will be alot of work, even feeding separately will not solve your problems. After each snake is fed you will then have to wash them to remove the smell of rodent before putting them in together. So lets say split them up.
Your cage size divided would be ok for a little bit, these guys grow between 5-7 feet so as adults they would be pretty cramped in there with only an 18 inch square floor.
If you have the space and money a pvc cage would probably work best, would hold humidity and would not rot or swell up with water.
Best of luck to you.

Thanks olafsson,
Your reply helped! And gave me some food for thought.
I did find some pvc boa tanks at a reasonable price and may opt for that approach.
That or get another Exoterra.
Most appreciated!
Take care,
Ian
Re: BRB housing in an Exoterra 36 x 18 x 36
Thanks!
I realized that I put down the wrong dimensions. The tank is 36 x 36 x 18 but my concerns are confirmed that the split tank with and 18 x 18 foot print will be too small.
i did find some tanks @ Boa Master for $175.00 delivered. Or I may get another Exoterra as we like to see them in a more aesthetic housing.
Thanks again!
Ian
