    I know I didn't leave them there.
So found out rats are crafty, I've got my two in a tank until I get to building a rack, well I only have a Rubbermaid lid on it. It's just laid on it (its weighed down now wasn't before) and they got out and made their way into the bag of their bedding at least they didn't explore the trailer my dog would have ate them.

Oh yeah, wait til you've been around rats a little longer. They are incredibly intelligent. Every bit as intelligent as most dogs and just as social if you work with them.

One thing I feel I must touch on, though. Not to be a nag or anything, but cedar bedding is a major no-no. It has chemicals in it that are toxic to rodents (and repiltes!). Aspen is a much better choice. Shredded newspaper or similar recycled products are great also.

    :) Rats will surprise you!!
and yes, please use aspen or just shredded newspaper, rats have EXTREMELY delicate respiritory systems, they will get sick.

Sometimes i boy a role of cheap toilet paper and shredd the outside a little bit they love ripping it up to make bedding and then play with the role. I dont feel bad feeding rats, but I did use to own free range rats as pets.. i could call them and they would come... or fall asleep on my lap when they got tired of playing... they are very smart and an aggressive rat is a bored rat.

These two are differently softening my heart towards rats 😊 the girl is more people trusting at the moment but the boys getting curious as to why she'll come run around on my lap he just pokes his head outta the hide I put on my chair when their out. An these two will never get fed to my snakes. I made that promise to my mom (might be going on 24 and have my own house but momma still can call in any favor) so they'll be pets their whole life. Soo if I throw in two rolls of tp they'll make them selves bedding? Their in a tank right now so want the bottom covered, and ill have to do that too lucky the petco rats cage too if my carpet refuses him again (he's on his last time in the tub if she doesn't take him hell become a breeder male.)

They sell aspen at walmart for real cheap, it's fine too and was the least smelliest I used so far.

If you have any tractor supply type shops around you can also find giant bags of aspen bedding for cheap. Even at my local small pet shop I can get a huge bag for about $15 or less (They're a bit pricier than some places but they've been around since I was a kid and I've always appreciated how well they take care of their critters. They even breed their own parakeets, and I've never seen another place with such big healthy 'keets)
