I already have 2 of the best (from what I have read) starter snakes that you can get. A Ball Python and a California Kingsnake, my question was what's a good starter Boa I am not getting one anytime soon but the last time I was at the pet store getting dinner for my boys they had a couple of really cool grey almost purplish Boas.

I would say my length limit would have to be 6 foot 7 foot at the most. I would not want a animal that could seriously hurt or injure my kids or the cat for that matter lol. Like I said though I am not getting one anytime soon I was just curious thanks for any replies.

Rosy boas are supposed to be a really good starter boa.

I think a male Columbian BCI (Boa constrictor imperator) would be a perfect fit. Males typically top out at 5-6 feet and are among the easiest of the boids to keep and care for.

BCI's are very good just be sure to get a male as a female will not fit your lenght requirment
they were my first boa and their husbandry demands are much the same as a BP's
