    Eastern hognose?
    Found this little guy while taking a group of scouts on a hike in Arkansas. They all thought he was a cobra by the way he was flattening himself out. I believe him to be an Eastern Hognose, but not %100 certain. Love the color patterns on him.

    Later on that night, at our campsite, someone almost stepped on a copperhead. I was fast asleep and was not able get a look at it though.

    Easterns are gorgeous and have the most impressive hood of all the hoggies IMO.

    Love these little fellas. People say they don't make good pets but I had one years ago and he was great. Fed him toads and kept him for a long time but eventually released him back into the wild.
