    Eek! A "wound"!
My het Snow shed yesterday and I cleaned her tub only to find that there's a wound on the top of her snout.

One of the larger plate-like scales is flipped up and I can see 'meat' underneath.

It's about a 1/4' circle and the scale is still attached like a flap.

She shed in one piece but somehow ripped that scale loose.

I dabbed it with Betadine and patted the scale flat.

Will it heal closed or fall off?

She and her sister are both 'soakers'. [no mites, though]

Could her soaking her head have caused this?

Her sister shed yesterday too and is fine.

How often should I dab on the Betadine?

Depends on the extent of the injury. It may not even have to do with water, could be an infection

It just happened while she was shedding and looks nice and clean and pink under the flapped-up scale.

I removed her old hide which was a stone-textured 'cave' and replaced it with a smooth upturned bowl so she she wouldn't damage it further.

I'm going to take a pic...be back shortly.
