1st BP and her eye's have clouded over?
I think my daughter's BP 'Avalon' is getting ready to shed.. We fed her two days ago and picked her up out of her hide and her eyes are all cloudy.. We just want to check and make sure we have this straight as what to do for her... We misted the whole tank and her, last time we did this it raised the humidity quite a bit and it stayed there at least a full day.. We also have some of that Sphagnum moss we put a moistened layer under her cool side hide.. Should we do the warm also? Should we put a lot in there or just the floor?

    Thanks
We also misted her, I think she like this? It makes her flinch at first but then she sorta raises her head up towards it? Hope it isn't pissing her off...

All you need to do is keep the humidity between 60% - 80% and leave the snake alone for about a week.

They generally don't appreciate being misted.

I typically bump my humidity in the bin up after their eyes clear.I would mist around her warm spot once her eyes have cleared back, after her eyes clear up it should not be long until she sheds. Heat + water=humidity, Cool + water= damp.

I figured not, but I've read about people soaking them when they are having a bad shed.. I figured it wouldn't hurt much

Yep, sounds like she's going into shed. No need to spray her directly, just bump the humidity in the enclosure. It will still be several days before she sheds and she will likely be a little grumpy. Let us know how her shed goes!

OK, we're hoping for a nice easy one. We have only had her for a month now and so far we have been lucky. She has eaten every week like a champ and has calmed down.. No more roaming the tank, she quit that about 2 weeks ago.. We were actually going to try to start holding her daily this week also.. Figures! haha. Looks like that'll start next week now.

Wow... I just checked the humidity in her tank from the last misting... I might have over-done it that time... 99% ..... Shouldn't it be raining in there or something? haha:banana:

If it was 99% there would be a lot of condensation in her tank on the glass.

What are you using to measure humidity?

Oh..There is and on all four sides and the plexi-glass top... Using digital Acu-rite therm/hygro from Walmart.. setting right in her tank, just to monitor it while she sheds

You know, I had one that did that one time, I think a little water got on the inside which caused the readings to get all screwy because haven't had a need to mist at all. That being said I took it out and let it sit for a day and now it is reading what the rooms humidity is.
