Which snake should I breed this season?
Alright guys, I need help deciding which snake to breed! The male is a blizzard. (charcoal+amel) Also, he may have unkown hets.

    First off is my normal.
    Pros:
    Past breedable weight.
    Possible unknown hets.
The baby's hets will give me a lot more morphs from a single clutch when she is bred to dad.

    Cons:
    Normals are harder to sell.
I don't really "want" another normal corn in my rack.

Then there is my amel motley girl.
    Pros:
The offspring will all be morphs.
The baby's hets will give me greater odds of producing blizzards. (plus no normals)
    Possible unknown hets.

    Cons:
Not yet breeding weight. (250 grams right now)

    Any suggestions?

Re: Which snake should I breed this season?
I'm sitting in a very similar situation except my biggest girl is 80g and my male is only 13g...so I have a couple of years before I can pair. Honestly, I would wait and see how big your 250g girl is by December and if she's big enough, go with her. If you don't want to breed the normal and you don't want to try and sell normal babies, then I wouldn't breed your normal. If your Amel isn't big enough this season, just wait until next season. That said, if you just REALLY want to breed this spring and you'll overlook the fact that you'll have another normal on your rack and you'll have to sell the others, then breed the normal. It's really about what you want...no need to rush your breeding plans for something you don't really want.

I have a bloodred het hypo/lavender/motley PH amel/caramel that I will be pairing with an Anery Motley het amel in hopes of proving her to be het amel (or disproving depending on what I get from that breeding). I'll get all normal or normal motley babies that I will probably hold one back (male) to breed back to mom to get some bloodreds and any babies displaying the hets he may have gotten (since that baby will be het motley and PH hypo/lavender). I'm okay doing this (and subsequently selling all normal babies) because I like to mess around with genetics and I'm really in it for the fun of playing with genetics not to see how quick I can sell babies (because I do know and understand that normals are hard to sell). It's really whatever you want to do.
