Found a bug my wife isn't afraid of... (DUW)
I caught a Chinese mantis the other day as it was being pestered by a cat. I figured I'd bring it home to my wife since she has never seen one in person. She won't even hold the crickets or roaches that I feed to our spiders/scorpions, but she had no problem holding this guy.

Mantids are so neat! They remind me of cats the way they turn their head and look at you. Really awesome little guys.

I laughed so hard I almost cried when it took off flying as she was holding it. She spazzed out and about fell over the couch. Ahh, the simple things in life... :D

Hahaha Yep they can go airborne.

Jumping spiders have the same quirky cat like personality.

This is the time of year when you usually see them. Unfortunately it is also the time they die off. :(

So cool! I used to catch mantids all the time and keep them as pets, they're smart and usually tame easily. The ones I had got huge. I had one I'd put on my finger and slowly put my hand toward flies on the window and she'd catch 'em and eat 'em standing on my finger. She loved it.
