    Tank size question
    For my rats what's the max I should have in a 20 gallon long? 1:3 1:4 1:5?
What have you found to be successful?

I think 2 rats per square foot is good, if they o not feel crowded they will be happier, and breed better

I personally don't like tanks for rats. Not good air ventilation, makes them prone to respiratory illness. A 20 long may be better since it's shorter, but be careful for lid-chewers, definitely need locks and thick mesh lid. I wouldn't use it for more than 2 females, with males having their own separate cage.
