Rats..mice???

Hi, I have an approximately 2 year old RTB and I am feeding her large f/t mice, but from what I read on here rats are better so should I start feeding her rats? What's the difference? And if so, what size?

Nutrition wise they are about the same, the appeal of rats is that they are larger so you can feed less rodents at a time. You want a rat that is as big around as the widest part of the snake.

Mice are perfectly fine for boas when they are young, but they should go on rats eventually or you'll be feeding a LOT of mice once your boa gets big, lol. I also have a 2 year old boa. He sits at about 1300-1400 grams (haven't weighed him yet this month) and he's eating medium rats on the smallish side - rats about the same size around as he is. It's important to remember that boas are not balls. You do not need to feed a rodent that is too large - with boas, slightly smaller is better. Stick with a prey item that really does not leave a noticable lump at all. And at this age, feeding every 10 days to 2 weeks is fine. :gj:
