    Different looking ball at Petsmart...opinions?
    Hi

I was in Petsmart and one of the ball pythons caught my eye. The first picture has 2 ball pythons curled up, so don't be confused by the snake in the back. The snake in the front has sort of a mojave-ish pattern and blushing. Sorry, this is the best pic I could get. I see a ton of blushing, and a very black back. Now the 2nd picture shows its head, which has a dot in the middle. I haven't really seen many normals, but I know they vary a lot. Anybody think this is worth a dinker? Again, there are two snakes there so don't get confused by the one that is definitely a normal (in the back).

I'm only seeing a light normal. Petsmart would have to have ultramels on sale for $50 for me to consider supporting the reptiles they sell.

Our local petsmart just got in a spider, bee and a pastel. Really surprised.

It is light, yes, but it looks normal. That said, there are a fair number of morphs out there that look mostly normal as well. If you have the inclination then buy it, breed it, and pair a lighter hatchling back to it or two hatchlings that are both light together and see what you get.

I'd pick it up. Mystics kind of look like ugly dull mojaves.

It looks cool, but I'm wondering if the lighting is messing with it a bit. If it's cheap and you really want it, then get it.

All Ball Pythons look different from each other. Some are lighter, some are darker. Some have blushing, some don't. The only way to tell if it has something special is to breed it, hold back some of the babies and breed them back to the original parent. You're probably looking at about three or four years to prove it out. The odds are that it won't be anything special, but it's always fun to try.

The only way I would buy a Petsmart python is if it was a high dollar morph they didn't know they had. Like a spider or an enchi. Even then I would be weary.(and I work at petsmart...shhh)I would much rather buy from a breeder who can tell me the history of the animal from birth. I did that and have 2 happy and healthy snakes. Also I got the snakes and a 20 gal long tank with locking screen lid. All for less than the price of one Petsmart ball python.
