    Thermostat Question
Hello everyone! I just recently bought a hydro farm digital heat mat thermostat. This is my first thermostat that I have ever used. I was using a rheostat, but decided that a thermostat is more accurate than my rheostat. Now I have a question about the probe that goes into the cage near the UTH. I am having difficulties shutting my screen with the probe wire. What are some recommendations? Also would a heat lamp interfere with the thermostat?

The thermostat probe goes outside of the cage. Between the tank and the heat pad

So I place the probe outside the tank near the UTH?

It should go from the bottom up: UTH, probe, bottom of tank, thermometer probe, substrate (1/2")
Your Tstat probe should be secured in the middle of your UTH between it and the glass (Sandwich style)

Okay so is the probe going to be inside the cage?
Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure I am doing this correctly:confusd:

No it goes on the outside.

    Follow these.steps:
    Lay down heat pad
Place thermostat probe on top of uth. In the center.
    Secure with aluminum foil tape.
Place tank on top of uth and thermostat probe.

Okay. My UTH is already connected to my tank so that step is completed. Now I need to place the probe on top of my UTH where you actually feel the material of the UTH!

Someone else might need to chime in. I dont attach my heat pad to any tanks using its own adhesive. I make them reusable by wrapping them in foil attaching tge prope to it wuth foil tape then using the foil tape to tape it to the bottom of the tank...

No idea how to do it since your uth is already.stuck to the.tank.

The second probe I mention is the ThermoMETER probe. Not thermostat. Sorry if it was confusing. The thermoSTAT probe should be sandwiched between your UTH and the bottom of the tank. (outside, bottom of tank.)
I'm not sure placing the probe under the UTH will give accurate readings, hopefully someone with more experience will chime in on that.

I do the same as Porcelaindoll. I don't use the adhesive either :( There is a thread for safely removing a UTH on here http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...-Remove-a-UTH! if the need arises.

My UTH has already been placed on my cage. The reason being is because I was controlling the temps with a rheostat, but wanted to get better accurate temps with a thermostat. I might have to buy a new UTH probably, so I can place my thermostat probe between the UTH outside on the bottom of the cage. Does anyone have a preference over zoo med or exo terra UTH? I would like to thank everyone who helped me out though!
