Curiousity or something else?
So I have the "looks like a baby still", Skade. She is a normal who is about 2 years and small for her age due to a bad foster situation. She's putting on weight beautifully and doing well. She's my permanent baby, and has been probed in the past to know she was female.
I also took on a foster for the month, we call him Ludo. He came with no knowledge on his past or anything. He's much larger, I would guess him between 2-3 lbs, as I don't have a scale but just judging by picking him up. We don't truly know he's male, just a guess.
They normally can't see one another. Skade's aquarium is above his and stepped back (think a tier shelving system style).
The last couple times I've taken one or the other out and the opposite snake is out and about in their own tank, the other has taken a notice.
Skade will just stare at Ludo for a bit. If I walk away with her, she doesn't strive to see him still.
Ludo, though, will crane his neck, pull towards the tank and stare at her. Neither are tongue flicking or anything, just staring. In a curious move tonight, I stood there with Ludo in hand, and let him stare at her through the tank. When I dropped my hand (and thus his body) lower, he stretched equally higher to keep her in sight, and even almost seemed to move around a bit, almost in a dance (think snake charming?)
I am just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what their up to. She's way too little to breed, so I wouldn't even consider that, but would he be able to realize she's not breeding worthy yet? Is this a mating thing? Or is it more of a curiousity between them or what? Or do we not know?
I'm just personally curious more than anything. I wouldn't put them in a tank together or anything, just super curious.
