    Swtching From ASFs?
Hey I'm getting an awesome deal on two breeder sized morph females but the only thing is they've been eating asf exclusively for a while now. Does anyone have experience with switching and is it difficult to do? I can get my hands on a few and the girlfriend gave me the ok to breed but id prefer not to if i didnt have to

I do not have experience with them; however, most people call asf's "crack for bp's" so i would venture to guess that it can be a challenge to switch them. Every snake is different though.

You won't know til you try, all snakes are different. I have a couple small colonies of ASFs and will toss a BP one every now and again when numbers are up or I'm retiring breeders. Next feeding they take their typical norwegians without a hitch.

it can be hard. doesn't mean it will be. I usually switch mine right after them having a clutch of eggs. if you don't want to breed, you can try and offer and then wait them out.

I don't think they will have a problem if they are pretty reliable feeders. I feed all my snakes a combination of ASFs and F/T rats and everyone switches back and forth just fine.

I don't really think ASFs are like bp "crack" any more than how some snakes are strictly mousers or rat eaters. It depends on the snake and what mood its in.

I would get the pin and save the money from the pastel to get a nice 2 gene male boyfriend!

sounds like these might be problem feeders. someone selling females at 1200 grams and on soft furs. he might of had a hard time getting them to this size. I don't like buying beeding size females unless they are well over 2000 grams.

9 times out of 10 a good deal turns out to be not so good of a deal in the end. buying females at this size is a gamble. good luck

I've had no problems with my ASF eaters eating rats when that is all I have available. Mine switch back and forth all the time. That crack cocaine remark is used a lot, but I've not experienced it. Although, it is possible and there are a few people on here who have had ASF eaters that would not switch. I think those are the exception rather than the rule.
