    The importance of a thermostat!
Started out this evening when we could smell something electrical burning. I unplugged everything to let it air out for an hour. A hour later I plugged it all back in and didn't notice the smell. Went to bed. Got woken up at 3AM by my sister who had just gotten home.. The house was filled with smoke. Ran over to find the heat pad must have over heated and the whole inside of the wooden cage was filled with smoke and of fire.

There was a beardie in there. It's amazing that he was in there for who knows how long and is still alive! For that, I am thankful!

We always joke about how this beardie can't be killed. He's like 15 years old lol

I'm glad everything turned out alright and you're taking it as a learning experience, but why did it get plugged back in? When electrical failures happen the unplug/plug back in method won't fix the problem

Well when I was checking all the lights I had completely forgotten that there was a heat pad even in there. Lemme mention that we were also running a fish tank and our iguana who has lots of lights was in the same area. The whole setup hasn't changed in years and has never had a problem! So the whole time I was looking, I was doubting the whole thing.

As far as the beardie, he's still doing well as of this morning! We're really really lucky he's still alive and I have no idea how lol
