    AP T8 cages
I'm looking at the T8 cages, they seem like a good size, meet my requirements, and people seem pleased with them (especially when compared to boaphile). But the AP site isn't very good, and I have no experience with these types of cages, so I'm going to hit you guys up for info. I'm planning to do stacks of 4 with a herpstat 4 on each stack. My understanding is that when using flexwatt belly heat with these, the probe should be under the cage directly touching the flexwatt, and the thermostat should be adjusted based off what I read on the thermometers inside the cage. Is there a recess on the underside of these for placing the probe? If not do people drill one in before stacking? I feel like the tanks shouldn't be resting on top of the probes, both for stability of the stack and for longevity of the probes. Thanks!

There is a slot for the thermostat probe:

Is that a built in recess for the 11" tape?

It isn't a recess, it's more of an outline to show you how to position it.

Flexwatt is about as thick as a sheet of paper, a recess isn't necessary.
