    skin question
i fed my 120g girl 2 mice 2 thursdays ago. she just shed today and is doing well. the only question i have is she looks to still have a little extra/flabby skin. not too too bad but a little more than normal. should i feed her 2 mice again or should i go back to one. she had no problem eating the two medium sized mice 2 thursdays ago. Ive waited till tomorrow because once she went into blue i didnt want to feed her so ima feed her tomorrow. should i feed her 2 again or no? and is the extra skin anything to worry about?

Do you have a scale that you can weigh the mice? a 120 gram BP should be eating 18 grams of rodent every 4-7 days.

There shouldn't be any extra skin. This can be caused by a few things. How is your cage humidity?

everything is good. cold side 80 warm 88-90 48-55% humidity. in a 15qt tub. and the biggest mice the pet store had was around 11-12 g so i tried 2. i mean i know 2 cant hurt her. snakes in the wild eat things two or three times bigger than themselves.

While they can and will eat meals much larger than themselves in the wild, in captivity given the abundance of food, it isn't always a good thing to gorge them every week. In the wild BPs are literally opportunistic feeders and will attempt to eat anything they can overpower. The 10-15% guideline allows for a nice consistent growth rate without taxing their system too much.

While 11-12 gram mice are slightly smaller for a 120g BP, feeding one wouldn't hurt until you can get the appropriate size prey item.

i am a fairly new bp owner and by the looks of it petco is the only place ill be gettin mice/rats. I dont know any private mice breeders or anything like that so i wont be finding any different sized mice or small rats. the smallest rats ive ever seen there have to be 50-80 g. i dont know where i can find rat pups or anything like that around 20g. im feeding today and i dont think one mouse is big enough for her anymore. idk what to do

i actually did find one that i didnt know about that has a lot more sizes to choose from. ima go there today and check it out and maybe try to make the switch to small rats since thats what most of the ppl on her prefer(to switch as soon as possible). another question though, ive never done this before and idk if its kinda like teasing her but is it ok to go buy the rat now and keep it in my appt all day until about 5 or 6 to feed it to her. since its better to feed them at night or should i just wait till about 4 to go to the pet shop. im kinda anxioius and want to go now haha
