I check http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/ and http://market.kingsnake.com/ religiously, aside from those classified sites, you can check the BOI on fauna for feedback on individual breeders. Reptile stores are going to be high priced, but you can see them in person, be wary though because not all stores are created equal. Lots of subpar keeping and husbandry in most pet stores. My person fav is expo's, as you can see them in person, chat with the breeder, and have a wide selection of different morphs / prices to choose from all in one place.

Def stay away from pet store buys (although I did get my first 2 from a petstore) unless theyre reputable. Its kind of the same thing with fauna or kingsnake though. Alot of the time, if not most, the snake youre buying is coming from a private breeder out of state or just too far away to drive. So you won't know its ACTUAL condition until it gets to you. Ive had a good experience buying online from places like BHB and royal constrictor designs. Ben seigel reptiles is another one Ive bought from. He also does auctions on FB which is a good fun way to get an animal a lil bit cheaper. I actually went to a reptile show yesterday and picked up a cinny and 2 normals. you just have to know what things can be wrong with them and look for that. hope this helps

For the most part, prices on bp's are "fair" everywhere you look for them. If you are looking strictly for a pet, buying online or at an expo and sticking to less expensive morphs is a good option. If you are looking to breed, spending $800 on morph 'x' that can/should/maybe will make you back $3,200(random figure) in a year or two or 3 when you produce morphs 'y' and 'z', then that $800 spent, although one may not be initially crazy about the price tag, is very "fair".

I like going to the reptile shows. The one thing I am glad I did was found a little mom and pop pet store where I got my first morph. It was a male pastel. I told them I was interested in a female and they passed my info to the person who produced the male. I bought a female pastel from him a week or so later and I just got a black pastel yesterday. He has also helped me out a lot when it comes to wiring my heat tape. So you never know what kind of connections you might make when your asking around.

There is also a "For Sale/Trade/Wanted/Adoption" forum on this site, and many members have their websites listed in their post signatures.
