I have two tanks set up with a 1:8 ratio. Is this too much for one male to handle? Any advice is appreciated. I am feed mazuri rodent chow. I've had the tanks set up for a month and none of my females are visibly pregnant. What am I doing wrong how to increase productivity?

Most of my colonies are 1:4, or 1:5. It's taken a LONG time before they started getting pregnant and producing. I have 36 pinks right now :)

Also, mice usually don't start to show until the last week of pregnancy. So it is possible that they ARE pregnant, just not far along

Would you recommend separating the females once they are noticeably Prego? And maybe take a few out of each cage and start a third tank? Or just keep the 1:8 ratio
I'm looking to produce about 100 mice a month less during breeding but normally that's what I'll need. What would you suggest?

it takes a while for the male to do his job, next thing you know you have alot of babies and alot of smell to cover. and the mice growing process is super slow.

    I would never separate mice.

1:8 is ok they just take time to get going.

Are you feeding Mazuri 6f or 9f?
6 is for rats and 9 is for both rats and mice since mice need a higher fat content.

I have both rats and mice. So ill be getting 9f I just recently started breeding and my buddy hooked me up with some feed not sure if it was 6 or 9. It was 21% fat content. O and snakesrkewl, I was reAding a post earlier, are u a local Portland breeder?
