    Teen death in community
Hello all, I am very saddened to say that a young boy, age 14 was killed in a car accident yesterday around 11:30 a.m. I will not release his name out of respect for his family, but I will tell the story. He was in a car with a 15 year old who had his learners permit, which permits a 15 year old to drive as long an adult over age 21 with a license to accompany the learner, well the boy didn't have an adult, he decided he would go for a joyride in his parents' 2006 Lexus Convertible, the boy who was driving was wearing a seatbelt, the passenger was not. The driver was sustained with no major injuries, just minor cuts and bruises, but anyway he lost control of the vehicle and hit a telephone pole, bounced off of that into a tree and over a hillside landing the car onto its top, ejecting the passenger. The passenger was not killed on impact, but later died at the hospital, they say it was due to internal bleeding. I've known the boy since I was in kindergarten, and last night the high school he attends had a candle light vigil for him and over a thousand people attended, after only around 9 hours after people finding out. Today was a really depressing day, and I would ask you to pray for the family of the young man, who are now mourning over a tragic death. Thank you.

Won't be doing any praying as I am not a believer, however I will say that I am incredibly sorry for your loss. I know people say that this type of thing is harder to bear when you know it it coming, which is what happened with my grandfather, but I've also lost people unexpectedly and it sucks just as bad. I'm sorry that you had to experience a loss like this at such a young age. I personally didn't experience any real loss until I was in my twenties. I know it is still soon and you are likely still in shock but as the shock wears off, if you find yourself having a hard time dealing with the loss, PLEASE make sure to talk to someone about it. There is no shame in getting help for dealing with this type of thing and someone trained to do so could offer different ways to cope if you find that you are having a hard time going it on your own. Again, I am very sorry for your loss but I'm glad that you felt that you could come on here and share about it. While I don't speak for everyone here I can say with a fair amount of certainty that we're here for you.

Sad story. Especially when the poor decision of a youth results in such drastic consequences.

I found out twenty minutes after this post, that the driver is being charged with negligent homicide.

It's unfortunate that it happened and it was absolutely irresponsible on both parties to do what they did, but I've never heard of a driver being charged with negligent homicide, outside of an intoxicated driver, when a passenger in the vehicle they were driving dies in an accident.
