Pastel Orange Ghost vs Super Pastel
What is the difference between a pastel orange ghost and a super pastel? I have seen some versions of super pastel that are as reduced as an orange ghost.

    Super pastel: pastel x pastel

    POG: orange ghost x pastel

It's all in the colors IMO: the hypo gene really adds a lot softer, creamy, faded tones for lack of a better description.

Genetics and physical appearance. They carry different genes.

Super pastels are a dominant trait and the homozygous form of the pastel. So they have two pastel genes. Most do seem to dull or brown out a little as they age. But not as dramatically as a regular pastel. When a super pastel is bred to a normal, all offspring will be pastel.

A pastel orange ghost is a pastel with the orange ghost (hypo) gene. Pastel is a co-dominant. Orange ghost is a recessive gene. But POGs look better with age. The OG really brightens up the pastel and will keep it from browning out unlike regular pastels, which do brown out. Hypos lack or have reduced amounts of black pigment, which is why the black looks faded and yellows more bright. When a POG is bred to a normal, all off the offspring will be either normals or pastels. They will all be 100% het for orange ghost aka carry the ghost gene but not visually expressing it on the snake.

Personally, I would take a POG over a super pastel any day. POGs look better to me plus I'm a big fan of hypos.

Re: Pastel Orange Ghost vs Super Pastel
I have a male patel orange ghost, but wanted to breed my bumblebee to a super to see if I could get killer (I think that is how it is done). If I bred a pastel orange ghost to a pastel would I get pastels, super pastels, pastels orange ghost and no normals?

    POG x Pastel would make:

    25% chance Het OG
    50% chance Pastel het OG
25% chance Super Pastel het OG
